Diaconate Diploma Program Catalog

Program Curriculum & Outline

This course provides a comprehensive biblical and theological foundation for individuals called to the ministry of a deacon within the local church. Students will explore t he scriptural qualifications, character requirements, spiritual responsibilities, and servant leadership model established in the New Testament. Emphasis is placed on understanding the role of the deacon as a servant-leader who supports pastoral leadership, ministers to the congregation's needs, and helps maintain unity and order within the body of Christ.

Through the study of key passages such as Acts 6:1–7, 1 Timothy 3:8–13, Philippians 1:1, and Romans 12, students will examine the biblical origins of the diaconate, the development of servant ministry in the early church, and practical applications for modern church contexts. The course also addresses ethical conduct, pastoral care, church administration, conflict resolution, and ministry to vulnerable populations.

By the end of the course, students will gain a clear understanding of the spiritual, moral, and practical expectations of deacon ministry and will be equipped to serve faithfully in leadership support, congregational care, and community outreach.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Explain the biblical origin and purpose of the deacon ministry.
  2. Identify the scriptural qualifications and character standards required of deacons.
  3. Demonstrate an understanding of servant leadership modeled by Christ.
  4. Apply biblical principles to church service, pastoral support, and congregational care.
  5. Develop practical skills for administration, visitation, benevolence ministry, and conflict resolution.
  6. Articulate the role of the deacon in maintaining unity, integrity, and spiritual health within the church.
